Alex took back control of Procolus. He went into the light and he was blinded for a small time until the light faded and he found himself lying on the ground, surrounded by his three friends. “Yo, Alex. You okay bud?” Xavier said helping Alex to his feet. Alex just stood there confused. Just a little while ago he saw all his friends die but here they were, huddling over him. Alex nodded that he was okay.

Was it all just a dream? Alex thought. But to him it couldn’t be. All he had to do was call Procolus and he would come. But he couldn’t do it here, not now. “So anyways Alex, we are going to kidnap the Zarnian princess. You in?” John asked Alex. Alex couldn’t say no so once again he nodded in agreement. “Great it’s settled. Let’s go.”

It took them an hour to get to the castle from their current spot. Even though military and medicines have advanced, castles were still used to protect the royals of an empire. It gave the soldiers much needed strategic positions to stop any enemy that tried to get in. But Alex and the two of his friends – Xavier was once again having second thoughts – were determined to accomplish their goal.

The four stood against the main wall in order to avoid being seen and captured. “All right guys let’s do this and get the hell out,” Rory said pulling out his gun and a silencer from his pocket and then attached them together. Alex, John and Xavier followed in his example.

The boys carefully took their plan into action. Armed only with pistols, they had to be very careful not to get into a firefight. They moved along the walls and kept in the dark, hitting the ground whenever a spotlight came near. After what seemed like an hour, they got to the second large gate with two guards standing by.

“Alex,” John whispered. Alex looked at him sending him the signal ‘what?’ “Take this and kill both the guards. Alex took the gun and pointed both towards the guards. He steadied his aim and without missing a beat, took the shot, killing both guards instantly. “Where do you think he shot them?” John asked Rory.

“Temple,” Alex replied, throwing John back his gun. The four friends continued on, stopping by the dead guards to take their guns. Their goal was to enter through a side pathway that would lead them straight to the princess’ room. Now getting to the side was difficult. Since the castle itself is surrounded by a moat, it would be very difficult to get in and out fast so time was of the essence.

They made their way to the side to find two sleeping guards. Rory and John, the two who had the assault rifles from the dead guards, knocked out the two soldiers by hitting them in the back of the neck. John picked up the guns and handed one to Alex and the other to Xavier. Xavier was hesitant to take it but he did so without complaining.  Now it was time for them to get into the castle and to their prize.

Their entrance was blocked by a stone that had been there since the last siege that was held against the castle a hundred years ago. Rory had found this out when he was in school and they took a field trip there. It took all of them to move the giant rock out of the way.

“So we are all going in right? I mean this is a four person job am I correct?” Rory asked John.

“Yeah, but who would keep guard?” John said to Rory in reply. Rory took deep thought into what John had said. “You and Xavier keep guard, me and Alex will go in and nab the princess and get the hell out. Quick and simple.” Xavier and Rory nodded in agreement. John led the way through the small hole in the wall. Alex was a little surprised that John could actually fit inside. It looked as if he was going to get stuck and they would have to call the whole thing off and try to pull him out.

John made it through with Alex following him. When they were through they came to be in a deserted part of the castle. Exactly how they wanted it. John pulled out a map of the layout of the castle. Alex had wondered where he had gotten the map or if he just always carried one around. According to the map, they needed to go up one set of staircases and they would be on the same story as the princess’ room.

They began their small journey to their prize. They turned through the hallways, attempting to find the unused staircase. When they found what they were looking for, it turned out that this part of the castle had indeed not been deserted. The two guards were heavily armed with machine guns. “Wow, two heavily armed guards down here?” John whispered. He was confused along with Alex.

Alex just shrugged in reply. Alex took off the silencer on his pistol and attached it to his stolen gun. Alex aimed and right when he was about to take the shot, both men moved to another corridor. The bullet only sank into the cement. Now the soldiers were alert and ran off, probably for backup.

“Oh shit, let’s move fast!” John yelled, running up the stairs with Alex right behind him. They ran through the corridors of the second floor until the reached the room where the princess slept. Overhead, an alarm began to sound, alerting John and Alex that they were in danger. “Crap, we’re screwed.” The princess’ room was guarded by two more guards, who were playing cards at the time. Alex shot off a couple rounds and killed both of them. Blood spilled over the cards. Alex was the first to move, knocking in the door. When he entered the room he saw all of the room’s brilliance. Fit for a princess all right. The princess appeared from the bed and stood in her buttoned up nightgown, confused.  Alex was stunned that even thought she was obviously having a bad hair day, he was stunned at her overall beauty.

The girl was probably the same age as Alex; with long blonde hair and blue eyes. Alex was to stunned to move from his spot so John pushed him out of the way and headed to the princess. “What’s going on?” She demanded as John grabbed her hand and let her outside the room into the corridor. She stepped in the blood that was spilled causing her to make a slight shout in disgust.

Alex snapped out of it and followed John. All he could do was watch his friend and a girl who he had just kidnapped. They went through the corridors until they reached the large staircase that they had taken before. No guards, Alex thought. Something was wrong. The alarm was still active as they ran down the staircase. The princess was struggling to get away but John’s grip was to strong for her to break. When they reached the bottom of the steps, around twenty soldiers surrounded them, guns drawn and pointed at them. One soldier stepped forward. He was obviously the captain of all the men standing before Alex.

“Freeze and let her go,” he said, taking another step forward holding his hand out for the girl. She tried once more to move from John but he wouldn’t have it.

“You better come put with a damn good idea or we’re dead Alex,” John whispered. Alex was always looked upon as the one to come up with the best get away plan but at this point he only could think of one other way. And he couldn’t let John follow him or it would cause huge problems for himself and his friend Procolus.

Alex took a step back and yelled. “Procolus!” Everyone looked around for something to happen. Nothing. John looked ashamed and took a step forward, almost turning himself in. That was the thing with John; he knew when he was beaten. “Take a step back John,” Alex said. He confused John, but he obeyed, making the princess step back too. Suddenly the earth began to shake.  Now everyone but Alex was panicking. Next thing that happened blew everyone away. Procolus, the great mecha, came crashing into the castle. The rubble killed all of the soldiers, and knocked the captain out.

“Uh, Alex, what is that?” John demanded, a little shaky. Procolus put his hand out and Alex jumped on. He issued for the princess and John picked her up and put her on the giant hand. Then he proceeded to attempt getting on, but Alex motioned him off.

“I can only carry the two of us. I’ll meet you back in Baker’s square all right?” Alex said to John. He nodded and went through the path that they had used to get in. The giant hand moved all the way up to the chest plate, where it opened up and Alex jumped in with the royal girl. “All right Procolus, let’s get out of here.”

“All right, hold on to something, it’s going to get a little bumpy!” The two grabbed onto something, Alex using one hand to hold her in one spot. Alex assumed she was either really confused or completely pissed off. But she really didn’t say a word during the lifting. Procolus shot up into the air and towards their destination.

So,” Alex began, in hopes to cheer her up. “What’s your name?” No response from her. Now Alex was almost certain that she was mad. But in her spot he didn’t blamer her. “You do have a name, don’t you?”

“Don’t even try to be nice,” she said in a snobby voice “My dad warned me about people like you!” She crossed her arms.

“Oh really, then why did I kidnap you then?” Alex said, his patience being pushed over its limit.

“It’s obvious. All you’re going to do is have your way with me and then hold me for ransom. Might as well get this over with,” She began to undo her nightgown, looking away from Alex in the process. She had known her fate, or so she thought so she already gave in. As she moved down to reveal herself, tears dropped from her face onto the ground.

She began to open up her nightgown slowly but Alex grabbed the shirt right below her breast. She stared at him, her eyes teary still. “What are you doing?” Alex asked completely confused.

“A-aren’t you going to have your way with me?” She asked, balling at this point.

“No, no. I wouldn’t harm you like that. I mean don’t get me wrong, your absolutely beautiful but I’m not like my other friends,” Alex reassured her. After his words, he began to rebutton her nightgown. She was now balling more than ever. But she got her wish not to be raped. Alex couldn’t figure out why she was still crying. Alex now began to comfort her by giving her a hug, which she gave in return a few moments after. After a half-hour of crying, she finally came to a stop.

“So I guess your going to make a ransom out of me aren’t you?

“No, I’m not. Would you like to go home? That’s the most I can offer you,” Alex asked, sounding as sincere as possible.

“I would like that very much. Oh and my name is Alice by the way.” She said drying her face off with her nightgown that was now fully buttoned.”

“That’s a beautiful name. My name is Alex,” he said. He gave her a smile which he got once more in return.

“Oh and don’t worry, I’ll tell them that you rescued me so you won’t get into any trouble.” She got up and looked around. “I’m going to look around if that’s okay with you.” Alex nodded and she smiled. Alice took off, not missing a single ounce of space. It wasn’t until she stepped near the platform that he panicked a little. The girl was now eyeballing the red and black suit.

“Just don’t touch the suit,” Alex said as Alice put her hand near it. She turned to him and back to the suit. She then bypassed it and continued her search for something unusual. As if the mecha wasn’t unusual as it is.

“Ha ha, Procolus was laughing. “Someone’s in love. Not hard to see.” Procolus laughed again.

“Shhh, she’ll hear you Procolus.” Alex said hoping Alice had not heard what Procolus was saying.

“Oh about that. I forgot to tell you that I can only be heard by you; and you talk through your thoughts to me even though you might think your talking aloud.” Alex sighed in relief but he was curious as to why that was true. To him he couldn’t believe that he was in love. He didn’t ever believe in the bullshit love at first sight. But he knew he liked her. After all, what teenager could resist a beautiful princess? Obviously Alex could not.

“Hey Procolus, head back to castle, we’re not going to Baker’s square, we are going to take her back. And is it possible to speed it up?”

“Yeah. But you really trust her word?” Procolus asked Alex.

“Yeah I do. I think you two will be the only ones I trust. And let’s leave it at that.” Procolus agreed, turned around and headed back to the Zarnian castle.

Alex and Alice sat in front of the screen, awaiting their arrival to the castle. It took them about fifteen minutes to get back due to the increased speed. The castle finally came into view and Procolus slowed down. “Sorry for kidnapping you in the first place,” Alex said. Alice just looked at him. Another tear fell from her eyes. “What’s wrong?

“Your nice. No one really has time to be nice to me; they’re always too busy. But you’re not busy right?” She sounded desperate now.

“I’ve got nothing better to do.” Alex said, smiling and getting the same reply. She jumped towards him and hugged him. Alex hugged her back after a moment pause.

“Stay with me please.” Alex could feel his shirt getting wet from her man fallen tears. At this point Alex couldn’t say no.

“Alright then, I’ll stay,” Alex replied, now hugging Alice harder but not hard enough to hurt her. They finally reached the castle, which had more military than any other place in the country. There was everything from guard dogs to tanks. But what they didn’t have was a single mecha unit and this confused Alex. “Procolus why aren’t there any mechas anywhere I’ve been?” Procolus didn’t answer. Maybe he’s the only one, Alex thought, knowing Procolus could hear what he was thinking. Still no answer. Alex thought it was a topic for another time.

The troops noticed they flying object and began to panic, firing uncontrollably at them. Alex as well began to panic as he heard the bullets bounce off the mecha. But something reassured him that regular bullets couldn’t damage the mecha. Alex calmed down except for the fact he was hearing voices again. Luckily they weren’t commanding him to do anything horrible to himself or anyone else.

Procolus landed in the middle courtyard. The soldiers instantly surrounded them an readied to fire. “Here, talk to them through this,” Procolus said, lowering a mike down to Alex. Alex began to speak.

“Please do not fire, we come in peace.”  Alex looked at the screen. They didn’t lower their guns. He thought of a new approach almost instantly. “Throw your weapons down; the princess Alice is onboard.” The soldiers looked at each other trying to figure out if it was faked or not. One soldier came forth and threw down his gun and the re-formed with the line. Another soldier did the same and then another, until all the weapons were on the ground. “Alright Alice let’s go.”

The mecha’s hand moved towards the center chest plate where Alex and Alice were. It opened up and revealed the two to the world. News helicopters and vans, along with all the military units. Alice held Alex’s hand as they stepped out onto the hand and was lowered down. Right when they hit the ground, four soldiers came up and seized Alice and Alex. They were separated and Alex was put in cuffs.

Alice tried to get back to Alex but the soldiers pulled her away. “Alex!” She yelled, trying to get to him. She kicked and screamed and Alex, for once, grew a tear. Alice managed to get away by kicking one man in his family jewels and ripping away from the other one. She ran straight to Alex and whispered in his ear. “Don’t worry, I’ll set this all straight.” Alex was confident she would. The soldiers regained control of Alice as she kept looking back for Alex.

Alex was torn to one side. Procolus stood up and closed off his entrances and shut down so that they couldn’t tear him apart. The captain that was knocked out came up to Alex, giving him a dirty look as he read a piece of paper. “You are herby under arrest,” He read. “By kidnapping the princess of Zarnia, you are convicted of high treason and are sentenced to death. Do you understand?” Alex nodded and was taken into the castle dungeons where he would be kept for a week until his death sentence. Alice on the other hand was reunited with her parents, where she explained Alex’s situation to them.

PROLOGUE
I looked around at all the destruction I had caused with my mecha. Usually I would be filled with joy at this but for some reason today I did not. It wasn’t the same anymore. It would have been if princess Haley were still with me. But sadly she is not and my life is as meaningless as someone’s life can get. Its been what now, a whole ten years? Back when I was fifteen and I had everything going for me. My friends were there and I didn’t cause so much destruction. In fact I was the goodie goodie of the group.
I don’t know how it started but I fell in love with a princess. Sounds like a regular old fantasy story right? Wrong. It was actually quite the opposite. There is no true love for me right now. I’m depressed and I’m on the edge of a suicide mission. If only there was something in my story that would make it so that I can remember what great I’ve done and come to my senses before killing myself.
Before I tell you my story know that I wasn’t always destructive, or angry, or depressed in any way. You know, actually, I had everything going for me. And the reason for that would have to be my good friend John. Yeah, he was always there for me. Well not in the sense of helping me, but he was there to teach me to suck it up and keep driving. So I grew up well.
However, I would have to say there still is a girl in my life Her name is Diana. Now Diana belongs to John and they have been together for these ten years. Ha, funny thing about Diana is that even though she’s going out with John she comes to me with all her problems. Well that is, until I managed to gain control of the only mecha in the world.
Nothing could stop me now. I am in my prime at the age of twenty-five and I am known as the Global Terror of Death. Or GTOD for short. Basically I’m on a destructive path and I can no longer control it. My destination is the capital of the United Nations. New York is my target and all it’s inhabitants. But to tell you the truth I never understood why I killed more than was needed to die. Oh well, guess it’s in my blood to be a natural born killer. Just like my father before me, I am a killer.
Now you might be wondering how my mother decided to go out with a killer and have his child, right? Well listen carefully. You know what on second thought, I’ll tell you the story later.
Anyways back to my destruction. You might have heard of the city of San Francisco, right? Well let’s just say half of it is in the ground and everyone able has fled the city only leaving a few survivors at the moment’s time.
Now my mecha is one-of-a-kind. It’s black with dark red armor plating. I had it customed to match my favorite colors. That was of course when my grandpa was still alive. Oh you wouldn’t believe how good he was at what he did. It was absolutely amazing.
He was a mechanic that could fix the most broken of things, and a could paint any thing you could ever ask for. And he could do it to anyone’s satisfaction. In fact he had the chance to tune the President’s hummer one time. Haha, he didn’t miss that opportunity. And it was great to see someone in my family being recognized. Maybe that’s why I do what I do. But now he’s dead and I’m the reason for his passing.
For you see, my first act of destruction was my own hometown. The birth of all my problems. But really, I was really only seventeen at the time and I was completely furious at the world and what it had supposedly done.
Now the reason why all this started was because the government killed the princess, those bastards…. I can’t wait until I get my hands on them. I will completely obliterate their existence. After I’m done with them no one will question my authority and I will become king of the world. Just as my princess would have been.
Okay so maybe I exaggerated a bit. They put her in a coma that the doctors say she will never recover. But I don’t believe that. She’ll pull through! I just know it!

The boy began to cry. Seconds later the giant man of metal came to a stop. Everyone within viewing distance stopped to see what was happening. Thos poor fools had no idea what was in store for them.
The mecha flew off only leaving a small sphere on the ground. Everyone close by came up to it to see what it was. A noise could be heard from the object. It sounding like something inside was moving about, or operating on some level.
A man, who was either really brave or a complete idiot, walked all the way up to the sphere and put his ear up to it. At first the man was puzzled. Then his eyes widened and the man began to scream.
Now everyone was either scared, curious, or angered that the man was doing this. A woman from the crowd of people pushed her way towards the front and slowly walked up to the deranged man. It was made obvious that the two people new each other.
“George, what’s wrong?” The woman said and then she faced the sphere, whilst the man was running about still screaming. He didn’t seem to let up. “George!” She yelled, causing the man to stop dead in his tracks. “What the hell is that thing?”
George looked at the sphere once more and then back at the woman. “It’s a-“ He got cut off by one of the other men in the crowd.
“Well tell us godammit!” The man was one of the angered people.
“Let him finish his sentence!” The woman that knew the man yelled back. “Now George what is it?”
“It’s a fricken bomb!” George yelled. The man began to run around once again without having a care of getting his ass out while he still had the chance.
The bomb detonated, destroying everything and killing everyone that was near the explosion. San Francisco was nothing but meaningless rubble now. The year was 2027 and the boy known only as project A had destroyed almost every major city in the North-Western States of the United States.

1
The boy paced himself back and forth in his darkly lit cell thinking about what was to happen tonight. The year is 2007 and the young boy (at the age of fifteen) was in a jail cell. Not one of those real hardcore jails, but the county jail.
He was being held due to him attempting a robbery. He had held up a gas station for some alcohol for his friends. One of the night shift officers walked up to the boy’s cell but at the time he was the only officer in the station.
“So boy,” the man began to say, the smell of whisky – that would be what the boy had tried to steal and they took it as evidence – was on his breath. “Thanks for the alcohol. We’re not aloud to drink this stuff on duty but tonight is an exception.” The fat and balding officer stumbled off into the darkness of the station laughing.
“Yeah that’s right. Drink up,” the boy said with a smirk on his face. He quickly moved to the window. “Hey guys you still there?” Three other males poked their heads up in sight of the boy. “What’s up Alex?” The biggest one said.
The biggest one turned out to be John, the head of Alex’s group. Accompanying John was his friends Rory and Xavier. Xavier was the smallest, probably standing at 5’9”. But he was thin and fast enough to outrun a veteran police officer.
Rory was thin too but he stood at six feet and was pure muscle. He had dark brown hair and was always wearing black or red. “So is he drunk yet?” Rory asked. Alex nodded and an evil grin passed through John’s and Rory’s faces. Xavier, however, did not smile. He was actually almost in tears. He didn’t ever like to do what John and Rory wanted and it made him feel like on of those damned goody-goodies.
“Guys can we just hurry up and do this with out causing trouble?” Poor Xavier asked.
“Oh quit getting over worked about something as little as this,” John said. Xavier just put his head down in response.
What was sad to Alex was that John and Rory were always mean to him. The poor fellow was smart but it was wasted on his friends. Alex had once over-heard Xavier’s parents saying that he had an IQ of 135 and yet he couldn’t manage to maintain C’s in school. Well that was, when he was in school. In fact, they were all high school dropouts.
In truth, none of Alex’s friends actually got over a C in any subject of school. Be he knew they were all smart because they always pulled off illegal acts all the time and got a way with it.
Makes you wonder why Alex had gotten caught, robbing a simple gas station. Well anyways, John shot the man and they ran off, but something told him to go back and call the caps to save the life of a man he didn’t even know. Alex had no idea what could possibly make him want to stay back. But a little voice had told him to stay.
But even thought he wasn’t the one that shot the man he was still help responsible for what happened. Now he awaited the judge and jury. But there would be no judge tonight in any case.
Alex’s friends went around the front of the very small building making haste. They entered through the two entrance doors, making the one officer in the building collapse over his chair in fright.
The officer quickly stumbled to his knees and then to his feet, falling over in the process. Alex couldn’t help but laugh a little along with his other three friends.
“All right you fat excuse for a cop, hand over the cell keys and we’ll be on our way,” John said, causing the cop to attempt getting off the ground again. This time he was successful. The fat man began to pull his gun from his belt but John didn’t wait. John, instead, pulled a gun from out from his pants – he had hidden it on his side – and pointed the gun at the officer.
The cop, knowing he had been beaten, spoke. “So,” he began. “Are you going to shoot me or what?” His words were slurred. He chuckled. He had believed his intimidation had worked.
“Precisely,” John replied, and pulled the trigger. And he did so without hesitation.
John walked over to the dead man to examine what he had just done. An evil smirk formed on his face. He saw where the bullet laid, deep in the man’s forehead, a clean deadly shot. John began for the keys when Xavier began to panic. He had been the watch for any cops coming.
“John!” He yelled, coming into the building.
“What is it Xavier? I’m a little busy here,” John replied, frustrated at Xavier’s disturbance.
“More cops are coming. Two cars to be exact!” That meant that there would be at least two cops present. However, there were four of them all coming back from a trip to the donut shop.
“Oh shit,” John said, pulling the keys from the dead body. John quickly opened up the jail ell and pulled a second gun from his pants, handing it to Alex.
Alex took the gun, no hesitating either, and ran dot the front of the building with his friends, only to find that the cops were just getting out of their cars. The cops, however were not ready for the four armed kids. John was the first to fire at the cops but the distance, allowed the bullet to only whiz across their heads. Now the cops were alert and ducked behind their two parked pursuit vehicles. All four of the police prepared to combat the kids if it came down to it.
“Put your guns down and come out peacefully.” One cop had said. John just laughed; Alex was quiet and Rory was buys trying to get Xavier from throwing his gun down and turning himself in. It actually hadn’t occurred to Alex as to why he carried a gun in the first place when he knew he would never use it. Maybe he would use it tonight? He thought.
“Put our guns down?” John said, a smirk still on his face. “Good luck with that!” John fired again this time shattering a window on one of the vehicles. The officers began to panic in turn because they were going to have to engage in crossfire in order to stop the conflict. The police began to fire back. The four kids moved back behind the door so that they wouldn’t be injured.
Alex stayed quiet through this whole scenario. John and Rory began to fire back at the cops, only damaging the two police speeders. Alex took one step into view and fired. The bullet flew through the air and lodged deep inside one of the cop’s head, killing him almost instantly. John was surprised at his shot, giving him a nod approvement.
The cops were not trying to escape with their almost dead partner. It was only the right thing to do so. “Take ‘em out boys.” John yelled. Three of the boys came our firing, with Xavier in the building balling his eyes out.
John and Rory’s shots missed but to the officers’ unfortunate luck, it only took Alex three shots to take out the remainder of the officers. No one ever knew why but Alex had the best shot in the world, or so his group thought. Now five police officers were left to bleed and die that night.
The four boys – one sobbing and one speechless – walked over to the four dead officers. John was in tears with laughter. It was the most evil thing Alex had ever heard in his life. Rory was once again trying to calm Xavier, but to no avail.
Poor Xavier, Alex thought. He always felt so bad for Xavier but didn’t know why. Maybe deep down he was compassionate? Alex didn’t know. He began to allow his mind to wonder. He covered everything from death to love within seconds.
He wasn’t sure why but his thoughts raced fast but he enjoyed it. John spoke and broke Alex’s concentration. “Alright guys, let’s head out. We don’t want more cops to show up.” At this point in time Rory had finally calmed Xavier down and they were ready to move on. John led the way back to the four friends’ home. Alex was the last to move. He felt a cold chill in the air. Something was coming for them, but he didn’t know what.
Alex started to walk with the group, keeping a lookout for what might be lurking in the shadows. Something was coming, that was for sure.

2
Xavier huddled around Rory and John and began to speak softly. “Have you noticed that every time we pass by a place where there is no light, he always looks around as if something is going to come out?” Alex seemed to be out of range from hearing so the three were safe talking about Alex.
“Yeah we noticed,” Rory said in reply. John nodded in agreement.
“Ha ha, maybe he’s afraid of the dark,” John said, laughing. The other two laughed in reply. Alex just walked, not talking as usual. During the whole night, he had said nothing much except for when they were in the station. He was to busy in his thoughts of what was in the shadows.
John, Rory and Xavier continued to talk, not knowing Alex could hear every word they said. He stopped right next to an alleyway, completely blackened due to the lack of street or stray lights from the houses that surrounded the alley. But the other three friends kept on walking, not knowing the danger that lied ahead.
Alex started to walk into the darkness, only in hopes that he could stop whatever it is that was coming. He finally caught up to his friends. But he was still keeping quiet – that was normal for him – and allowing his mid to race. But not so much that he didn’t realize what was going on. “Hey I got an idea!” Rory said happily
“What is it Rory? I’m all ears unless you come up with a dipshit answer,” John replied.
“Oh it’s good alright. How about we steal the Zarnian princess! I mean with Alex we could do about anything.” Alex wasn’t listening; he was to busy thinking.
“Hey that’s not half bad. Are we going after the other three princesses when we are done?” John asked, taking in what Rory said.
“Yeah. That’s right! And then we can have our way with them and then make them pay a very high ransom for their precious girls back!”
“Yeah that’s right. SO I like your idea but how do we pull it off?” John and Rory had begun to come up with a plan after a good half-hour. Alex began to worry. He was going to speak for one of the first times tonight but Xavier beat him to it.
“Hey have you guys noticed we’ve been in this alley for awhile now?” The group stopped and looked around. The moon, being the only light, disappeared behind the clouds. Now the alley was completely dark with shadows covering everywhere they could possible be.
“Something is really wrong here,” John said, taking a step back from his spot. Alex was now alert, knowing they had walked right into a trap. All the friends, except for Xavier, pulled out their guns.
The wind blew fast and the shadows began to form.

3
The shadows began to form into five figures. Slowly the figures began to rise and the four friends were surrounded. The figures began to take shape.
They took the form of demons. They were extremely big – maybe the size of a house. At this point, Alex realized they were no longer in the alley. Horns grew from their heads and rounded down to their lower backs.
Xavier, once again balling his eyes out, probably for the third time that night. But he had his gun drawn ready to defend his life. “Okay, we’re screwed,” John pointed out as he began to unload his clip on one of the shadow demons. Rory followed and then Alex, followed by Xavier. The bullets hit their intended targets but they caused no effect. One demon, closest to Xavier, swung its giant hand against Xavier, breaking every bone in his body and killing him on impact.
Alex could only imagine how crushed Xavier’s body must be. Rory yelled out and attempted to run after his friend’s fallen body, only to be stopped by another demon. Rory began to fire his handgun but it didn’t harm the demon. The demon raised its fist and swung it straight down, destroying Rory’s body.
Blood sprayed everywhere and the sound of bone crushing could be heard. Alex could only sit by and watch as his friends were being killed one by one. The third demon grabbed John, picked him up, and to Alex’s disgust, ate him. Alex wanted to vomit but something kept him from getting sick.
Now there was only Alex and five demons left. Alex wasted his last bullets on the nearest demon. No effect still. Alex knew his defeat and fell to his knees while the five demons surrounded him, covering him and soon Alex was in a black abyss. Alex was confused as to why they didn’t kill him. Or maybe they did. But he wasn’t sure. He stood up to find it wasn’t an infinite fall but ground. He looked around to find there was a light but it seemed to be very far away. Alex was determined to get to tit even though he had just lost his friends.
He ran and ran, barely getting closer. The light must have been years away. But Alex just kept running. Soon his legs were close to giving in. He couldn’t run anymore. Right when he was about to stop he fell. There seemed to be a hole in the ground. He hit hard on the ground below, knocking him unconscious. When he awoke he was still in the dark but there was a small light close by.
He got up and began to walk towards the light. His head hurt due to the fall. He made it to the light with haste. Alex was a little scared of going in, due to the fact that he could not see in. But he went anyways. It was better than being in the dark.
He closed his eyes and stepped in. Alex took a couple steps forward and then preceded to open his eyes. Something large stood in front of him. Alex looked up to see that it was a giant robotic man. Or a mecha if you would. It was, what seemed to be, dead and unresponsive. Alex wanted to yell to see if anyone would answer but he couldn’t open his mouth.
Now he was curious about what he was standing in front of. Alex looked around the white room. It seemed as long as the darkness except for the mecha. Alex decided to climb it for maybe it had an opening somewhere. But as he approached the foot of the mecha, the foot rose up and revealed an entrance into the robotic humanoid.
Alex walked in and the foot closed behind him. It looked like one of those mechas from the TV shows. He continued inwards towards the heel of the mecha. When he reached it, something began working and Alex turned to be on an elevator. It lurched upwards, almost causing him to fall. It didn’t take long before he got up to what seemed like the cockpit; it was like a room with a platform in the middle. The platform was connected to the bottom and the top of the room and was blue in color.
Alex walked onto the platform and looked around. Awkward, he thought. Alex was completely confused. How do you work this thing? He tried a series of words such as ‘activate’ and ‘turn on.’ After awhile he just sat down, tired on the platform. His head began to throb making Alex put his hands on his head in hopes that the pain would stop. But it didn’t and he was just going to have to deal with it.
“Damn headache, Alex said aloud to himself. He could finally talk now but realized there was no point in shouting anymore. Some more mechanics began to work again and a visual came on a screen. The screen was at the front most part of the mecha. Alex got up and walked over to it. He could see the room he had entered and the darkness straight ahead. As he turned around he saw that the platform was lit and a black and red suit was floating between the bottom and top platforms. At this point Alex was to curious to worry about his small headache.
Alex walked onto the platform, which was just big enough for him to stand on without touching the suit. He examined the suit and held out his hand, barely away from the suit. “I wonder,” Alex said, curiously. He touched the suit and instantly it wrapped around his hand and then up to his arm until it spread through his entire body. Alex tried to scream but it was no use. The suit consumed him until he was completely covered from head to toe. What is this? He wondered.
At first the body suit took over his motor functions but as Alex got used to the suit, he began to control it. At this point, the suit had knocked him off the platform. Alex got a thought that said for him to step on the platform once again. He did so and soon found himself floating in mid-air. When he closed his eyes, he could hear someone or something else’s thoughts. When he opened his eyes he wasn’t in the cockpit anymore. Or that’s what it seemed to be like. Instead he saw through the mecha’s eyes. He tried moving his arms and the mecha copied him.
When Alex turned his hand around, so did the giant mecha. Alex tried a few other things and every move was copied in the exact moment.
“Whoa, this is bloody awesome!” Alex yelled in enjoyment. He had forgotten about the fates of his companions almost instantly.
“Calm down Alex. I am not a game or a toy. You have to slow down or you will lose all your energy.” A voice said inside Alex’s mind.
“Who’s there?” Alex demanded.
“Calm down damn it!” The voice said once more. “I am your mecha. You have just awoken me. I thank you for that.
“Well then. If you’re my mecha then get me the hell out of here!”
“If you want me to do that then give me control. Here, just focus on giving up control and allow me to take over.”
“Alright then. Make it quick.” Alex soon relaxed and they began to move. They entered the darkness slowly.
“Hold on Alex, we’re going up!” The mecha shot straight upwards when it got into the darkness and soon they were in the air. Or what seemed to be the air. Alex could once again see the light that shone so far away. They stopped in mid-air and then bolted towards the light at high speeds. Soon the light got bigger until eventually they were right there. But the mecha stopped and did not go through.
“Mecha, what’s going on?” Alex asked.
“It’s nothing, but you should take control. Just concentrate and you will be able to do anything you want. Now I’m giving control back to you.
“Wait, I need you to answer one question for me,” Alex asked.
“Yes? The mecha replied.
“What is your name? I mean you do have a name don’t you?” It took the mecha a minute to answer.
“My name? I am model 001. The first one ever to exist. But there are others like me as well so don’t think this is a one of a kind gift.” The mecha said proudly. “But I am still the first model to ever exist, that is your one of a kind gift.”
“001? How about if I just call you Procolus?” Alex asked. The mecha made a noise that sounded like a laugh.
“Sure if you want, you can call me anything. But I like Procolous. Remember though, if you ever need me, call my name.” And with that Alex was happy that he knew he had a true friend.

My poor house.

Well here is how things ended up…something happened with the toilet that made it overflow and cause water damage to our house. First off, I’d like to point out that even though I used the bathroom last, I swear it wasn’t me. Anyways, it’s drying off now and we got one more day in the hotel. This is like a story gone wrong. I cannot wait for this all to be over so I can finally sleep in my bed once more.

Chapter I

Katsuo awoke in his bed but he only started up at the ceiling, attempting to figure out what was so special today. He thought long and hard but all he could come up with was that it had to do with high school. Katsuo jumped out of bed with the smell of breakfast in the air. Breakfast was something that Katsuo enjoyed about his days in the orphanage.

He quickly grabbed an extra pair of clothes and towel and headed into the shower. No one was really up at this time so it meant that he could have more time under the warm water.

Riou was a very skinny boy that moved extremely fast. He had dark, brown hair that looked as if he had black hair instead. Katsuo was also tall and towered over everyone in his class. He was only sixteen so to him, his height wasn’t that special to him. He was a very closed off person that did not show any of his emotions. Instead, he bottled them up. But it was only because he didn’t know how to react to them. He had brown eyes and perfect teeth, even though he never smiled.

He finally appeared in the hallway. The hallway was long and narrow and had a dark feeling to it. Before it was an orphanage, it had been a hospital which meant that people had died in the building before. That fact creeped Katsuo out a little but did not distress him during his thoughts. He made his way down to the cafeteria, the smell still lingering throughout the air.

He entered the main room was large and comprised of four, second story balconies that connected to one another. The room itself was large, and comprised of many pillars that kids would hide behind. He took his seat on one of the fold out tables and began to eat the breakfast that was laid out in front of him.

Breakfast was small but it was still Katsuo’s favorite meal. The meal was comprised of bacon, eggs, and a biscuit. It never stood a chance. Katsuo scarfed it down. After his meal, he got his backpack and headed out for school. The air was cold, just the way he had liked it. He walked for only five minutes before he reached the school grounds.

The school was indeed larger than the orphanage due to it having over ten thousand students. But even though there were so many people, he was still an outcast. He had no friends and wasn’t exactly a scholar. He managed average grades since that was the only effort he put into his school works.

A dwarf passed by, nearly knocking Katsuo to the ground. “Watch where you’re going you dumb dwarf!” Katsuo yelled out. The dwarf just continued as if Katsuo didn’t even exist. Katsuo hated living on the planet he was born on. Planet Xi as it was called. It was a tolerant world where many races lived together. Katsuo loathed the idea of equality among races. He would rather live on Earth where it was just humans. But that wasn’t going to happen.

The school day went by fast and for once, Katsuo attended all his classes. He soon began his after school activities when the last bell had rung. They had always played a series of sport games which he really hated with a passion. After the activities where done, the day was finally over. Darkness had set in. He headed back to the locker room to change.

While he was there he decided, since no one was there, that he would take a shower before changing back into his street clothes. After his shower he proceeded to putting his other set of clothes back on. As he was putting his shirt on, he saw a man stick his head out of one of the corridors. “Hey whose there?” Katsuo demanded, but he received no reply. So instead of continuing, he stopped and headed over to the corridor that the man headed into.He got there but the aisle was cleared of all presences. “Strange” he said and he started for his locker. Instantly as he turned around, a bag flew over and onto his head. He struggled for awhile and he could hear the grunt of a man, who sounded as if he was larger than that of normal people. The man punched Katsuo, sending him into a state of unconsciousness. When he awoke, Katsuo found himself on a bed, strapped down to it. His vision was blurry and his voice was slurred. “What’s happening,” is what he attempted to say but he could not even make the first word out at all. He tried to get up but found that he was in no state to break the locks. His vision started to become a little better and he saw that three people were hovering above him. One spoke.“So are you sure this is the right boy? I mean he doesn’t look like he will accept the titan injection.” The one in red said.A man in blue spoke next. “Yes, we preformed the blood tests and he is completely acceptable to the treatment.”“Well then, looks like we better get started. You should put him out for this or it’s going to hurt like a son of a bitch and we don’t need him to go dying on us at a time like this,” a woman in white said. They quickly put Katsuo under once more and began their treatment. It wasn’t long before they were finished and had put him in a holding cell. He awoke to a headache. “Ah, my head hurts so badly,” he grumbled to himself not realizing someone was there with him. The girl was petite and was what looked like, a completed experiment. She was half cat, half human. A tail came from her backside and she had paws instead of hands or feet. She had brown eyes and dark hair that covered cat ears. She looked at him in complete curiosity. Katsuo quickly got up and shimmied to the corner of the room. His quick movements caused his headache to escalate. The girl just looked at him with her curious brown eyes. She gave a smile, which bared her cat like teeth. The only thing really human about her was that she didn’t have whiskers and she had skin instead of fur.“Well hello there sleepy!” She said happily. “You’ve been out for about a day now. What’s your name, stranger?”Katsuo looked at her for a moment, trying to see if she was for real. He found his answer and replied. “Me? My name’s Katsuo, who are you and how’d I get here?”The girl giggled. “Well I’m not sure why you’re here. But my name is Barbro. Anyways, what experiment are you?”“Experiment? What do you mean experiment?” Katsuo asked.“You mean to tell me you’re not sure what experiment you are? I am b-38 experiment. Or the cat experiment. It’s a little strange, they mixed me with cat DNA and this is how I turned out. But I think I’m cute what do you think?” She replied, posing in a position.“You’re very beautiful. Now, can you explain to me what this place is and how I can get out?” Katsuo was completely confused about his situation. The girl thought for a moment. “You know I don’t really know to tell you the truth. But hey, doesn’t your name mean victorious child? Well obviously that’s not true if they captured you.”Katsuo got angry. “What do you mean, not true?  It’s as true as it gets, I never lose!” But this only made her laugh some more.“Ok, ok, calm down now I was only kidding.” She stared him over for a moment. “Hey you know now that I come to think about it, you’re pretty cute yourself. I know, let’s be friends!” Katsuo was embarrassed. He had never gotten a compliment like that before.“Alright, but we got to help each other get out of here. Now if only there was a way…” He pondered an escape. But just as he was pondering, the door on the other side of the room exploded off its door hinges and a woman came through, bearing guns all over her body. The girl came running in, shooting towards the outer area. She looked over the two sitting there. “Alright kid, you’re coming with me,” the mysterious woman said, throwing Katsuo a handgun.“What exactly do you want me to do with this?” He asked in return, staring down at the weapon she just threw to him.“You kill with that, now come on!” The woman left the room and waited for Katsuo outside the door.“Well that was easier than I had expected. Come on Barbro, let’s head out. I’ll make sure your safe even though I don’t know how to use this dreaded thing.” Katsuo said as he ran out the door, Barbro following him.The three went corridor to corridor, blowing holes in the doors and firing at patrol squads. They managed to break through all the way to the last room, which was the biggest room in the entire building. At the end were five patrol guards and someone that seemed to be of a higher ranking.“Ah look who it is, my men,” The officer said, the soldiers turning around to face the three who were attempting to leave. “Ah if it isn’t the great Alexa, come to save the day. Now then troops, go make me happy and bring their corpses to me.” The soldiers all drew their guns and started towards the three. The mysterious woman spoke. “Alright these guys are easy just make sure you don’t battle the lieutenant. Katsuo stayed at Alexa’s side and Barbro walked off to the side, so not to get shot.       “So then, Alexa is it? What’s your plan on taking on five armed men when we have nothing to hide behind?” Katsuo asked.       “My plan is simple, out gun the weak soldiers and then battle their leader. Shouldn’t be that hard.” She replied, drawing out two small automatic guns. Katsuo was still stuck with his handgun she had given him earlier. The soldiers began firing and Katsuo and Alexa ran off to different sides so as not to get shot by the soldiers. Alexa and Katsuo began to fire back, but the soldiers were fast and only two got caught in the fire. The other three jumped straight into the air which made them vulnerable.Katsuo took his chance and fired off three shots. Two of which hit the soldiers in the head, killing them instantly. The other one just skimmed past the last of the soldier’s arm. The man landed and yelled out in pain. On the other side, Alexa drew a sword and went in for the kill, slicing the man in two. Blood sprayed out of the man and his corpse dropped into a pool of blood. Now only the lieutenant was left standing.“Bravo, Alexa,” He said, clapping his hands together. “Now then, it seems you want to challenge me in a sword battle?” The man drew his sword. “Then let us see who is the strongest.”“Bring it on captain; I’ll kill you where you stand!” She yelled back, drawing her sword in front of her.“So beautiful and yet so stupid,” The man got into a battle stance. At this point in time, Katsuo finally realized the true beauty of the woman who had saved him and Barbro. She had hazel eyes and red hair. She had a build of a warrior, and yet she was a woman in all. She wore a red robe where as the lieutenant wore a black one with a helmet and wrist braces as well as anklets. They both charged at tremendous speeds, colliding in the middle of the room and sending a shockwave throughout the room. The two jumped back and began their series of attacks. No side was giving into the other and the match was equally matched. One attack after another, the two wore down and the fight was about to come to an end.“I see you have been practicing, Alexa. It’s too bad you won’t live past today. If only you hadn’t betrayed the Order, you could have been one of the greatest.” The man flew in for an all out attack. The two blades collided, sending Alexa in a backwards movement. When she stopped, the swords were equally matched but the lieutenant was on the top. “Now you die, beautiful woman.” His sword began to cut through hers and soon the blade dug deep into her left shoulder. She dropped almost instantly, and sent Katsuo running towards her body. When he got there, he noticed she was still alive but barely.“Alexa, are you alright? Speak to me!” He demanded, a tear rolling down his cheek. She smiled. “Don’t worry about me, just take this and press the red button when you have made contact with that other girl. It will send you into the future, and you two will be safe there. I’m just sorry I couldn’t tell you about project Titan X. But go now!” And she died in his arms at that moment.Katsuo did not know her well at all, in fact he knew nothing about her yet still he felt like he had lost a great friend in wartime. His sadness turned to anger, which in turn, turned to hate. He drew her second blade and stood up to the lieutenant. “Oh it looks like I pissed someone off. Come now kid, you don’t think you could honestly take me in a sword fight if the infamous Alexa had failed. No? You won’t give up will you kid?” Katsuo drew his sword. “Hahaha it seems as if you are prepared to die too. Maybe you should have listened to her you pathetic weakling. I don’t care if you are a Titan, I’ll end you right here!”The lieutenant came in fast and swung his bade downwards at Katsuo. The attack was blocked. The stalemate was set in. Katsuo had his blade upwards, only being held with one hand and the lieutenant had used his entire strength in one attack.“No, that’s impossible! How did you defend my attack with only one hand?” He demanded but Katsuo didn’t respond. Instead he pushed the lieutenant back and went in for his attacks. One by one, his attacks battered away at the man, and soon the blade shattered into many pieces. Now the man was without his sword. “Damn you kid; I won’t be defeated by you!” The lieutenant went in for a fist attack but Katsuo cut him down where he stood.

The battle was over as fast as it began. He sheathed his sword and walked over to Barbro. She just looked at him with her brown eyes. “Come on; let’s go before more show up.” She nodded in agreement and she hugged onto Katsuo as he pressed the button and they were sucked into the future to await for a further journey…

Alexei’s Revenge
Alexei was stumped. He had been sitting in his mind for, what seemed like, months. He had managed to control this part of his mind, allowing Alexei to fly and manifest things so that he could enjoy himself. At the current moment, Alexei had decided to be in the war zone, similar to the one he was supposed to go to before Shade showed up.
The war had been raging, and Alexei was at the front lines, dug down into the trenches. Bullets filled the air from every end, making it almost impossible for anyone to get into no man’s land. Alexei was a star sniper though, picking off the gunners that controlled the machine guns.
Alexei picked off the gunners one by one, until they were all dead. Now Alexei had to give the order for the troops to go over in hopes that they could take the enemy trenches. “Alright men!” He yelled, getting the attention of every soldier. His voice boomed over the gun fire coming from enemy trenches. “Time to go over and take out the enemy trenches! Now fight for Arcadia!” The men yelled in return and everyone rushed out of the trenches.
The battle was bloody; the men rushing over the trenches were getting mowed down by the hundreds of infantry on the other side. Alexei was not worried though; he closed his eyes and thought hard. Before long, the enemy troops came out as well and the battle was fought hand to hand in no man’s land. Alexei laughed, since he knew that he controlled this battle.
Though he had fought many war scenarios, he was still eager to try out his new manifestation that he had recently come up with. With another quick thought, his men all died and the enemy was victorious. But Alexei jumped into no man’s land, this time with his new manifestation. He created himself armor, impenetrable, and deadly.
The armor was indeed the best thing he had created so far, or so he thought. The armor went from head to toe, attached with two blades coming from the wrist and shooting back towards his head. He did not have any guns equipped, since there was no need in wasting bullets, no matter if they were imaginary or not.
The soldiers looked at him in awe. At first all Alexei did was laugh, until the soldiers looked to each other and then began firing upon Alexei. The bullets bounced off his armor and shot into different directions. After a couple of rounds, the soldiers gave up and proceeded to draw their swords in hopes that it might be the key to beating Alexei. As they charged, Alexei chuckled a little and charged in return.
Alexei was quick and dangerous. As the first soldiers came into range, Alexei’s blades twisted so that the long swords were pointed outwards. He lunged, allowing his two blades to sink deep into two of the soldiers. Without any hesitation, Alexei yanked his blades out, and continued onto the other cattle.
After about two hours of fighting, Alexei had massacred all the enemy soldiers and he was proud of his creation. He closed his eyes and allowed the battlefield to turn back into the darkness of his mind. Alexei did enjoy the battle simulations very much; however it wasn’t very satisfying considering the fact that he could not manifest a single voice so that he could have someone to talk to.
He was still sad, and always remembered that dreaded day where he was locked up in this place without anyone to talk to. Alexei thought for a moment and realized that he had no idea why he had let Shade take over in the first place. All he could remember is that he had lost hope but not what for. Without thought, he dropped to his knees and began to cry once more. Alexei had done this often but this time it took more out of him.
“What the hell is wrong with me,” Alexei said, slamming his fist onto the ground. From what Alexei could remember, he had grown to become a powerful man. He wasn’t sure how long it had been but it seemed like he had indeed become a grown man. Alexei stopped crying and stood up. Something had stirred in the darkness and it caught Alexei’s eyes.
A figure appeared out of the darkness. Alexei could not make out anything of the person or thing since it had a hood over it. “So you’re Alexei? I had expected a little bit more from the Brave, but what the hell,” it had turned out to be a male, maybe still in his teenage years.
“Who the hell are you and how did you get here?” Alexei demanded, manifesting his armor in case of a battle. The figure had only waved at him to show he only meant for peace, but this did not encourage Alexei to take off the armor.
“Well my name is Steve and if you’re wondering how I got here, well let’s just say I know my way around.” I lifted my hood off and revealed my face to Alexei. “I’ve been dying to meet you, since are paths are about to intertwine.”
“Intertwine?” I could tell that I had confused Alexei and that gave me more power during the conversation.
“Yes intertwine. I come from planet Earth and I am the ‘diplomat’ of the present as we have been come to be known. Anyways that’s not the point of why I have come to talk to you.”
“Really is that so Steve?” Alexei began to move off to the left but still in no mood for talking.
“You know with your attitude towards me, you’re lucky I even decided to come. Also to think that you have not had anyone to talk to so I suggest you take up my offer as a friend and actually talk with me.” Obviously Alexei was still corrupted from the take over and all his war scenarios I had watched him simulate.
“Alright fine, but don’t think that since I will talk to you that I am your friend.” He was very stubborn.
“No need to be friends. But might I suggest you get out of your head for once and take control of your physical world?
“Physical world? I handed that over years ago to some guy named Shade. And no, I do not plan on taking it back.”
“You’re very stubborn. I didn’t think you would let the girl you love to just die out in war without any consideration to it whatsoever. Or maybe you have forgotten about Rachael?”
“Rachael…” I struck a cord in Alexei. He had not remembered that name in a very long time and he had finally begun to remember everything about her. How he had always loved her, and how she had hurt him right before the war. At the very sound of her name ringing through his head, he allowed his armor to wear off. He dropped to his knees yet again allowing the new remembered thoughts to flow through his head.
“I know it must be hard Alexei, but you have no choice in the matter. If you don’t save her, then everything that you had lived for is lost. And not only does your dignity die, but so does your world. So does Rachael.” I took a few steps towards him but he did not look up.
“Why would I want to save her Steve? She hurt me, even Shade says so.” He looked up at me and the pain he felt entered my own body and I began to feel sorry for him.
“Shade has lied to you but I cannot explain who he is right at this moment. First you need to get out of here and save Rachael. You love her no matter what you say and nothing can change that.”
“Even if that is so Steve, it’s been years and the war is most likely over.” He said, his tone was very low. I could now at this point feel his lack of hope and I knew that the connection me and him had meant that he was the chosen one of this world.
“It has only been a few weeks. You have indeed aged, but your physical body has not. I urge you to return Alexei.”
“I cannot begin to understand you Steve,” Alexei chuckled. “Tell me then Steve, how does one go about getting out of this hell?” He rose to his feet, a new wave of hope flowing through his body.
“I guess you were easier than I thought Alexei,” I had hoped that he was going to be ready for his old life back, however, we still had Shade to deal with and I could not be there to help him.
“Easy eh? Trust me my friend, I’m a lot darker than I appear,” His armor appeared over his body again, only this time he did not manifest his helmet.
My time ran short with Alexei and I was kind of sorry that I could not really prepare him for the battle. My own world was calling for me back and I needed to return to my reality. But before I had left, I gave Alexei a small book. In the book was all the details he needed in order to throw Shade back in here and defeat him to take his body back.
The book was special and was given to me by a sage from the Order. From what I had been told, this sage had broken off the Order to create something in hopes the Order could not continue with their plans, however, he were short on information when it came to what he was trying to accomplish or to what the Order was truly up to. But he had told me that I would know in due time if I was the ‘Chosen’ one, whatever that means. I gave my final good bye to Alexei and took my leave, venturing back to my own world in hopes that he would find the bravery within himself in order to vanquish Shade. I did know nothing of him except that he was one of ten that we should worry about.
Alexei began to open the little book up and noticed it was bigger than he had thought. He read through about a page before he realized he could just say he knew the book and it would instantly become true. He closed his eyes and imagined himself reading that very book at an insane speed, finishing it in a minute. Exactly as he imagined it, it happened in his reality. The book was fairly simple to him and it taught him more on how to control his manifestations. He wanted to thank whoever gave me the book in the first place but he thought he was never going to see that person so there would be no point.
Now with his new found knowledge, Alexei began to plot his revenge to take his body back from Shade. He knelt down and focused all his thoughts into bringing him back into this realm. At first it began to work, but his mind started to wander on to different things and his concentration was broken, severing the connection he had with the outside world. “Damn,” he said to himself and he began to try it once more.
This time, he breathed deeply and focused all his thoughts on opening that connection. The first part was easy; he had to create the connection which he believed was fairly simple. Now was the hard part, he had to keep his mind focused on sending Shade into Alexei’s domain. After a half-hour he managed to successfully create the connection and then proceeded to bringing Shade in.
He got up and walked over to the connection portal, where he was able to see all the things happening outside his mind. He was in the heart of a battle; all the troops had prepared to go over into no man’s land along with Shade. The men rushed out yelling at the top of their lungs. Alexei’s sudden instinct allowed him to grab Shade and send him flying into the realm of darkness. In the physical world, Alexei’s body lied limp in the trenches, but it had not been shot.
Shade got up and dusted himself off. “You son-of-a-bitch, what the hell have you done,” Shade had said.
“Taking my body back and I’m going to kill you for tricking me,” Alexei replied. His armor was still covering his body, but he allowed his helmet to form over his head. Shade laughed and armor similar to that of Alexei’s took its place over Shade’s entire body.
“Alright then pretty boy, let us see if you have managed to learn a thing or two in this damned place. And if you haven’t, I get the honor of having fun before I condemn your body to hell.” He drew his blades and he rushed inwards at Alexei.
Alexei was only half-prepared. He managed to deflect the attack from Shade but had barely managed it due to the fact that he had not faced a foe with the same armor specs as his. Blow after blow, Alexei dodged and blocked, until he had got the hang of the battle. In an instant he turned the tide of the battle and it was his turn to deliver the blows. To Alexei’s amazement, Shade was not a better fighter than he was. In fact, he was less of a problem than the manifest soldiers he had created to keep himself occupied during his imprisonment.
Alexei drew back for the last time and shot his blades into Shade’s body. His blades cut through his armor as if it was butter and struck through his body and out the other side. “Ha, you see Shade, I have learned and now you are the one who will die here, not me,” Alexei said drawing his blades from his opponent’s flesh.
Shade staggered back, blood coming from his open wound. He looked down at it and then back up to Alexei. To his amazement, Shade was laughing. “You don’t get it you idiot. I lived here for years and mastered the art of manifestation. You cannot hope to defeat me in my final form!”
Shade dropped to his knees, his body starting to turn into a liquid. After a minute, Shade was a puddle. Alexei had just laughed at this and began to walk away, not noticing that this was part one of the transformation. By the time Alexei was able to turn around at his new enemy, he was staring into the eyes of a dragon. It was a huge ferocious beast and was covered in fire.
The dragon struck Alexei with its front foot, sending Alexei flying through the air. Using a lot of concentration, Alexei had managed to stop dead in the air. He flew back at the beast but no matter how much he tried, he could not defeat the creature. The dragon was invincible to him and Alexei soon wore down. It was not much of a fight and soon Alexei was pinned underneath the dragon, near death.
Alexei gave up hope and waited for his death to come, but a voice whispered in his ear and a spirit took Alexei’s body over. It pushed the dragon off and squared up against the gigantic beast. It snarled and went in for an attack. The new Alexei was quick to this and countered it in a fast counter strike. He drew his blade and clashed against the dragon with all of its force. The dragon continued to strike back and forth with the spirit.
The dragon’s giant claws came crashing down onto Alexei and he hit the floor with a large thud. But it did not stop the warrior. He got back up and went for the dragon’s neck, but not with his blade. The dragon realized his attempt and huffed fire at him, in hopes to kill the man in one burn. It did not work, and instead it only made the spirit angrier. He continued his strike at the dragon, grabbing it by the neck and beginning to choke it to the best of his abilities. The dragon’s neck was indeed tough and therefore almost impossible to crush.
After a minute of a standstill, Alexei lost his grip and the dragon whipped him with his tail and send Alexei tumbling to the ground. Alexei rolled over about ten times before coming to a stop on his stomach. He attempted to get up but his ribs were broken and he dropped to the ground. In the air, the dragon grunted and the lunged towards the ground at a very high velocity. Alexei was still in pain and could not bear to move from his spot on the ground. The dragon slammed against his body and the ground, sending Alexei into a coma. The coma was short due to the spirit that dwelled in his body just before the fight began.
Alexei got up; this time the spirit was in complete control. Due to the spirit, Alexei’s white in his eyes turned blood red, to compliment his black eyes. He grew two times in size and his armor began to change once more into a body suit that resembled a demon from hell. The dragon did not miss a beat, and instantly changed his form back into Shade, who was the same size as the new Alexei and with the same type of armor. The only difference was that Alexei’s armor was sapphire black and Shade’s was a ruby red and they both had different emblems on them.
Shade was the first to strike again, sending Alexei flying through the air as before but only this time Alexei was able to stop a lot easier. This time it was his turn to strike and without hesitation, he lunged back towards Shade, colliding with him in the air. They both threw blows and blocks, no side managing to get the other one in a weak position. They were both locked in fierce combat until one punch from both sides sent them both flying away from each other. That did not stop the two warriors and before anyone realized it, they were locked once more but this time they were both attempting to push each other back.
No side was giving up, nor did any one of the two show signs of weakening. It was a stalemate, just as before. Not one of them talked, and yet they both knew what was going on in the other one’s mind. They both began to push harder, and started to get stronger. Faster and faster they grew, until they reached giant status. They had finally become two titans clashing it out in the darkness of Alexei’s mind. But Alexei had stopped gaining power, and Shade began to push him back. It seemed that even though they were equal before, Shade was once again winning.
Shade crushed Alexei’s hand and sent him into a state of pain. Shade gave a loud chuckle and threw Alexei straight towards the ground. Alexei was not able to stop this time, nor slow down. He hit the ground with an impact that could cause an entire city to collapse. Alexei did not move after that, and Shade realized his opportunity had come about. Without hesitation, he once more began to fly towards Alexei to deliver the final blow to end the fierce competition. But something caught his eye. Time slowed as he got near Alexei and he saw Alexei’s eyes open.
“Ha you bastard, I told you I would kill you,” Alexei said, holding his hand out. Shade could not do anything, and within a second his face was near the palm of Alexei’s hand. A dark black light came from the palm, and engulfed Shade. Shade peeled like a banana until there was nothing left of him. Alexei had managed to obtain his body back from Shade, and was now able to return to his own world.
He got up and limped to the connection portal, where he saw his body lying in the trench next to a guy who was trying to wake him. Alexei crawled through the portal and woke on the other end. The guy standing over him was no medic but was a common private that did not go over into no man’s land. The soldier had been attempting to get Alexei onto his back but Alexei waved at him to let him know he was alright.
“Sir, are you alright? You seemed to have entered a coma just now,” the soldier seemed worried but Alexei was not sure why.
“Yeah I’m alright, who are you?” He asked. The soldier gave a small chuckle at his words but then straightened up quickly.
“I’m private Riki, sergeant,” the soldier replied. He was obviously a comic and was exactly what the doctor ordered.
“Alright Riki, I’m tired so get me to a med bay and make sure your there when I wake up,” Alexei said, falling unconscious yet again today. He had fought a big battle against Shade and did deserve some rest.
He had new plans for tomorrow. He was going to find out about Rachael and save her from a death that was expected for a common soldier. He was not sure how he had become a sergeant but he was not complaining. I guess he had Shade to thank for that, but who will ever know?

Spirit Bound: Beginning

The Beginning

A boy was born. They named the young child Riou. Though it is said that most babies see and hear what others do not, this was especially true for Riou. He grew, year by year, only to give into his strange ‘power’ as he began to call it. Before the age of five, Riou was able to see a spirit that has guided him throughout his life. The boy grew up with this spirit and when he was ten, he gave it a name.
Riou named him Alexei. He wasn’t sure as to how he came up with the name but he was satisfied and both of them grew on it. Alexei was a spirit guide who had banded together with many other spirits in order to bring both the spirit world and the human world into one existence.
The plan failed and the spirits realized that there would be no joint existence so they had decided that they should not interfere with any living beings. This plan was agreed to but soon broken as dark spirits who seeked to control humans as pets, got loose and began causing trouble within the realm of the living.
A band of greater, or higher, spirits decided the action needed to take in order to stop the spirits from completely controlling the second realm. Under leadership, greater spirits soon joined up with random humans at birth and taught them a new way to battle the evil.
At first, all the spirits taught were simple life lessons, but as the child grew to an age of fifteen, they began their real training. They would fight long and hard with their birth companions and would soon become fighting machines. But there was a problem that grew in the distance…
On the other side, the darker spirits managed to overthrow the greater spirits and thus caused great chaos. The spirits dwelling in the physical world would soon be separated from the friend and would have to live a life of their own.
Our story begins in the small rural town of New Soul with Riou at the age of seventeen.

His Chapter

Riou awoke to a thud just outside his dorm. He shot straight up in bed and it took a moment before he realized someone was knocking on his door. He jumped out of his bed and walked towards the door, yawning and rubbing his eye.
Riou got to the door but did not open it. Instead, he stretched and scratched his lower back until a second knock thudded on his door. He opened it to reveal a girl not much shorter than him. He did not know the girl but for an odd reason, he felt he did. He wasn’t sure as to why it was, but he had always had feelings that he knew people he really didn’t. But here this girl stood the first of many.
“Can I help you miss,” Riou asked, still rubbing the morning crust from his eyes. At first she only gave him a blank stare with her large brown eyes.
“Oh, I’m looking for Riou,” She began saying, glancing down at a piece of paper than back up to him. “Is this the right room?”
“It sure is, want to tell me what a girl like you is doing in a place like this? I mean it’s not every day that you see a beautiful girl walking down the hall of the boy dorms,” Riou replied, trying to be as smooth as possible.
She gave him a small dirty look which was really hard for her to actually accomplish. She allowed herself in and took a seat on the second bed that was unused. She looked around a bit with a little disgust but wiped it off as Riou came back into the room, the door unclosed.

Intertwining Chaos: Chapter 1

His Beginning
Alexei leaned up against the side of the Great Marble Wall. He hadn’t had a single errand to accomplish, so he felt relieve at his uncommon break. Alexei looked up the great mass of marble, barely understanding the importance of it. He had been told in school that it was to protect the United Cities from falling victim to the vicious tribes of animals that resided in the forest, be he had not paid much attention to the lecture since he was to busy thinking about other things that currently interested his mind.
Alexei chuckled. The thought of the United Cities was a joke, which normally he would heed to attention to but he had nothing better to do except re-explain it to himself for no reason what so ever. The United Cities were all once at war with one another, that was, until his father took charge of the Arcadian empire in Arcadia Prime.
Alexei’s father was a quick and deadly man. He had won his kingship by stripping it of the king who was in charge at the time. That was the thing about Arcadia; it was the most powerful governmental power at any point in time. The government worked in a very weird, or so Alexei thought, way in which there were two kings. The Dojo was the first king, who was chosen by the most powerful warriors in Arcadia. It was a simple process really; it was where two hundred of the strongest men were chosen and they all fought for ten days, and the one left standing became the Dojo.
The second king was called a High Saint, who was the wisest of the wise, and led the country in everything that didn’t involve war. Alexei’s father was a wise man but no where near as smart as a High Saint should be so he stuck to the wars. What was strange to Alexei was not that fact that he was the son of a Dojo, but his father was a small man. He was only about five foot nine but what he lacked in height, he gained in speed and strength.
It didn’t matter to Alexei to remember what his dad looked like since his father was dead now. “It’s funny,” Alexei said, as if he thought there was someone listening. “He was the man who conquered everything and yet he could not defeat death.” Alexei had a knot in his stomach from the thought of his father. He hated that man with every ounce of his life, and yet he could not do anything about it at all.
Alexei stood up, his back now off the wall, allowing the cold, crisp winds to move in and out of his shirt. Alexei stood at six feet, much taller than his small father. He was a lean kid, without much muscle or fat on his entire body. His hair was long and black that hung a bit over his face, and flowed in the winds. His eyes were as black as the night, always in search of something but never finding it. The boy was a senior in high school, at the age of seventeen.
Alexei was a lot different from all the other boys his age. He wore a black shirt that hugged against his skin, with a small jacket that only covered part of his upper chest. His shorts were knee-long and were a sapphire black. They hugged the front of his legs and flowed with the wind in the back. He looked nothing like his parents, but did wear two things that belonged to them before they died. One was a necklace; it had a bulky chain and a two golden letters attached to the end of it. The letters were added by Alexei and they were an R and an A which represented something to Alexei that no one else knew about.
The boy noticed some of the younger kids running around playing with a blue ball, kicking it around to each other, laughing. Alexei looked around to notice everyone who had been watching the boys were smiling; he was the only one with a neutral face. “Wow,” Alexei had said, walking away from the wall and towards his school. “Pathetic.”
The blue ball the boys had been kicking, bounced up against his leg. “Hey Mr. can you throw the ball,” one of the little boys said, running up to about fifteen feet away from Alexei. He just gazed at the boy with those black eyes, and then continued onto school, without moving the ball an inch.
Alexei walked down the main street of the snowy barren wasteland that was his home. He wasn’t sure why he was in this sort of mood at a time like this. Usually when Alexei went to school, he hung out with Rachael, who he had secretly been in love with since he met her in the second grade. Rachael was Alexei’s best friend and though both were very popular, they had never actually engaged in a romantic relationship.
During the many years that Alexei knew Rachael, they had both gone out with a lot of people but had never actually had any successful relationships. Alexei had always gone out with the most beautiful girls in the school, but that never lasted long. He dumped every single girl because the only girl that was ever on his mind was Rachael and that made him a bad candidate for a boyfriend. Rachael, on the other hand, was not asked out much since everyone had a fear of dumping her since Alexei was known to go after Rachael’s ex boyfriends and beat them until they could barely move.
Alexei had reached the school, not a moment to soon. The bell rung and traveled through Alexei’s eardrums, ringing in his ear for a second after the bell had stopped. All of the students hanging out in front of the school gathered all of their things and headed into the two story building. He looked around for a couple of seconds until his eyes came across Rachael, who had been waiting for Alexei to arrive. She caught eye of him and waved to Alexei, who had smiled and waved back in return.
Rachael was an average sized girl, with her dark blonde hair tied back in a knot. She was a very athletic girl, who was actually one of the most athletic girls her age in the Empire. Though Alexei was not sure why, he preferred athletic girls over those skinny twigs that populated the school he was going to.
Alexei walked towards the school, Rachael coming up on his left. “Hey Alexei, you ready for today?” She asked in an agitated tone, looking towards Alexei without paying much attention to where she was going. Alexei could not remember what was so special about today and there was probably no use in trying to remember either.
“Nope, what’s today Rachael?” He replied, taking a quick glance towards her and then back up at the path he was heading down.
“It’s draft day. Which means that we might finally be separated into the army,” She said, looking down. She wasn’t happy about the draft and neither was Alexei. He felt his stomach drop as those words slipped from her mouth.
“Separated? That can’t happen. We are best friends; we cannot let them get away with that!” Alexei’s mood turned from feeling sad, to feeling angry. He didn’t like the fact that the Arcadian empire started a war with someone bigger, stronger, and smarter than they were.
The two friends grew silent, not speaking a single word to each other as they walked through the halls and into their arithmetic class. Alexei couldn’t believe it: he was going to be away from Rachael. The thought burned into his heart and a tear dropped from his eye. He quickly wiped it away before anyone noticed it. As the two walked into the class, they saw their entire class standing, apparently waiting for them. Alexei and Rachael looked from each other, to the entire class and their teacher.
“Kids,” the teacher said, trying to keep a smile on her face. “You two, unfortunately, will not be finishing this year out. You two are heading into the armed forces. I’m sorry to say, but you two will be separated into two very different squads.” The teacher could no longer keep her smile. “You leave in two hours, so go ahead and spend the most time together.”
Alexei was heartbroken. Finally, after five years of managing to avoid the draft, they were finally going to be split up. Alexei and Rachael both walked outside and sat on the nearest bench. Both were in a deep line of thought and neither one talked. But then really, what was there to talk about? How could Alexei sum up all of what he wanted to tell her in two hours? He was baffled and broken.
Rachael was the first to break the silence. “So, our nightmare has finally come true,” a tear rolled down her cheek. “We’ve been friends since second grade, and now we are being torn away from each other. I can’t believe it, and I don’t want to.” In truth neither of them were mentally ready to be separated from each other; going away to different parts of the war to fight in the unknown.
“You know what Rachael,” Alexei said, looking up with a smile. Rachael was confused and didn’t know how to react. She wasn’t sure if he was happy they were being separated but she hoped that wasn’t the truth.
“What Alexei?” The tears stopped rolling down and off her cheeks. She was hoping for a good answer.
“I have a plan set out for my life,” He said, Rachael still puzzled. “And you’re a major part of it. To tell you the truth Rachael, I love you, I always have. I cannot begin to understand why now at this last moment I decided to tell you, but I believe in doing so I’ve given myself something to fight for, to live for.”
Rachael was stunned. She didn’t know what to say, nor did she expect something like this to happen. “So you love me?” She didn’t sound to enthusiastic, nor did she sound upset at this. At the sound of her voice, Alexei’s heart sank. “I don’t know what to say about that Alexei. But I don’t feel the same way towards you. I mean sure, I love to be your friend, but that’s all. I don’t think anything more will come forward and I think I need my space before I head into the unknown.”
Once again, Alexei was heartbroken. He had not wanted to hear a reply like that, but in the end, what could he have expected? Rachael left and turned the corner towards the front of the school. “So that’s it then,” Alexei said to himself, a tear rolling down his cheek this time.
Alexei was indeed broken, his dreams turned to the chaos of his imagination. No more would he see the girl he loved; no more could he smile at the thought of Rachael. His dreams had been shattered to pieces. Now what did he have to live for? It all hit him hard and so fast that he could no longer control himself. A new side began to manifest itself in Alexei slowly.
Alexei’s thoughts were scrambled and confusing to him. He could not even make out left from right, or what was to become of him. Though Alexei was lost to his thoughts, something awoke him in the darkness of his mind. Before Alexei could move, he was sucked into that darkness; the unknown.
The boy moved back in forth, as if preparing for something to appear from the darkness and attack him. Nothing appeared, and Alexei gave up on preparing for something to come about. He sat in the nothingness, lost and broken. “How could one girl do this to me,” Alexei asked himself. “It’s true though, I did love her, but how can I fight for someone who doesn’t love me back?”
“You don’t,” A voice came from the darkness. Alexei stood up and prepared himself for whatever was to come out. But nothing dark or hideous came out; instead it was Alexei himself, but in a way not him at all.
“Who are you and why do you look like me?” Alexei demanded, staggering back a little. The copy looked Alexei in the eyes and laughed.
“Me? Why I’m you, you idiot.” He began to walk towards Alexei but Alexei continued his walk back. “Ah, I see you are afraid and confused. Well let me introduce you to myself and this place that you have been taken to.” The copy held up both arms and yelled, “I am Shade, ruler of the darkest part of your mind. You have been fooled by a mere mortal of a girl, but don’t think that I will disown you like she did! I am a true friend, true to my word, true to everything that is morally correct.”
“Shade? But why do you exist in my mind, and in the form of me?” Alexei was indeed confused and he wanted answers that very instance.
“Because you are confused and I am taking over. True to this though, I cannot take over unless you surrender the physical form to me. But before you answer, think of this; I can get you through the war and maybe in the process find this girl that has hurt you so bad.”
Alexei couldn’t think of anything to reply with. He had indeed lost hope and knew that because of it he wasn’t going to make it out of the war if he was on the front lines. In the end, he had no choice but to accept his offer. “Do it,” Alexei said, giving full power to Shade.
Shade laughed. To him it was as simple as taking candy from a baby. He disappeared and left Alexei to rot in the darkness of his mind. Alexei let his body drop to his knees without any second thought. Now what? He was trapped in his mind without anyone to talk to, or to love. In time, he would become cold, his mind wandering to death and destruction.
